Irish Dermot Blaine wins APPT in Macau
A little known Irish Poker Player, Dermot Blaine, has came back from the dead and won the APPT in Macau. Blaine started the final day short stacked, with only 13 big blinds. However, with a bit of luck and incredible grinding abilities, Blaine ended up being crowned APPT champion and picked up a nice $541,089.
The two main hands that Blaine will thank for the victory, is when he knocked out Daixing Chen with A-K, when Chen was holding A-Q on a A-9-3 board. That propelled Blaine to chip leader, and four hands later it was all over when he called an all-in from Mike Kim with K-10 for Kim to show K-9. The flop,turn and river changed nothing, except the fact that Dermot Blaine as the new APPT poker champion.

Top Irish Online Poker Players
With all the big live poker tournaments in Ireland quickly approaching, I thought I would have a look at some of the best Irish online poker players that will probably be featuring in most of the events. With only four months left of this year, we still have the, Boyle Poker’s International Poker Open on the 16th of October, Paddy Poker’s Irish Winter Festival on the 23rd or October and the Ladbrokes Irish Poker Festival on the 2nd of October. So with October looking to be the biggest month for live poker tournaments in Ireland. Here are a few of the best Irish Online Poker players that will surely feature.
Irish Poker Festival soon approaching
Following up on last years success, Ladbrokes are again sponsoring the Irish Poker festival, which will be held in Killarney on October from the 2nd to the 4th. This year, the Irish Poker Festival looks to be another big success, following on from last years success, where 832 poker players competed for a guaranteed €250,000. Last years winner, Jimmy McSweeney, walked away with a massive €100,000.
Irish Poker Radio to Record at The Fitz and The Westbury this week.
In their last three shows Irish Poker Radio have interviewed some of the biggest names in Irish Poker, and at the Team Championship of Poker last weekend they recorded two impromptu interviews with both Liam Flood and online superstar Jude “j.thadeus” Ainsworth.
On Thursday the 27th of August the show will travel to one of the most popular end of month games in the country, The Fitzwilliam card club’s €270 game which had an impressive €32,500 prozepool in July and are soon to announce their popular Winter Festival which Irish Poker Radio will also record at.
On the first of September the show will also record at the Westbury’s monthly €10,000 guaranteed. The Westbury has proved a popular venue among players looking to earn extra Irish Poker ranking points, not to mention the complementary barbeque.

Dave Masters and Co scoop the Team Championship of Poker.
Dave Masters defeated Michael Grayden heads up to win the inidivual title and lead his team to victory in the Team Championship of Poker. In a key hand in the heads up battle both played got all their chips in the middle almost even stacked. On a 7-9-3 board with two spades.
Graydon showd the 6-8 of spades and was a favourite over Master’s Queen-7, but Graydon missed all of his sixteen outs twice to end up crippled with a ten to one chip deficit.
In the final hand Graydon once again put his chips in as favourite with Queen-6 against Jack-Ten and hit a dry Queen high flop meaning his opponent needed runner runner to finish him off, but the dealer duly obliged and turned an Ace and a King to give Master a backdoor straight and the individual title.
Having reached the final table Masters only needed to secure third place in order for his team to take the overall title on points. Four handed the team were gifted the win when he isolated an all-in from a short-stacked player with Ace-9 from the button.
Bruce Poker Add €6000 to Irish Poker Rankings.
On Wednesday 20th August, The Irish Poker Rankings completed a sponsorship deal to give something back to the players and provide further incentive for those following the domestic Irish Rankings and attempting to climb the ladder.
