Markus Sippe Wins BoylePoker IPO
Luxemberg based German poker professional, Markus Sippe, has won the Boyle Poker International Poker Open. Sippe overcame local player Jaye Renehan heads up to take the title and $62,250 back home to Luxemberg.
A record field of 1440 players were in attendance for the tournament at the Regency Airport Hotel, Dublin. The numbers represented the largest tournament field ever assembled outside of America. Neil Channing, Padraig Parkinson, Andy Black, Marty Smyth, Surinder Sunar, Fintan Gavin and Simon Trumper were all there to try their luck but there was no stopping Sippe.
After a short, ten minute long, heads up battle with Jay Renehan, Sippe couldn’t contain his delight after beating such a huge field of players. He said; “I hope to come back next year and do even better!”. Quite how he’ll do better than winning the main event isn’t clear. Perhaps the grinning German plans to take down a few side events in 2010 as well.
Boyle Poker’s Paul Spillane said; “This year’s International Poker Open was another great success, breaking last year’s record by a further 140 players. The event is proving more and more popular every year, among all levels of players. There was a great atmosphere throughout the entire weekend, and everyone appeared to be enjoying themselves at the tables. Once again, the event’s success can be attributed to the hard work of everyone on the team, and of course the infectious enthusiasm of those who took part. The IPO has become an unmissable event on any poker lover’s calendar, and we are already excited about the next one.”

4. Cat O’Neill $24,736
