New PokerStars TV show to launch in UK

A new PokerStars TV show, Bounty Stars of Poker, is going to be aired on Sky Sports on Monday night throughout November and December. Amateur online qualifiers from PokerStars.com will have the opportunity to play against a PokerStars pro or sporting celeb for £5,000.

Six two-hour long shows will each feature six online qualifiers who will play a single table tournament. The winner will go on to play heads up against one of the celebrities or professionals. The players will be unaware of who they will be facing until they take their seat.

$10,000 November Rake Races at Sun Poker

Sun Poker’s October Rake Races were an absolute success, so the popular iPoker online poker room is putting up $10,000 for the month of November in two more great $5k races:

The first rake race runs from the 1st of the month until 11:59PM GMT of the 2nd Sunday of the month. The second rake race runs from the 2nd Sunday at 00:01AM GMT till the end of the month at 11:59PM GMT. Sun Poker overlap the 2nd Sunday for the “Double Dip” so the points you earn on the last day of the first race, will also be your first day for the second race! Isaac Baron remporte le Main Event du Caesars Palace Classic

Jeudi 29 octobre à la table finale du Caesars Palace Classic, l’homme désormais surnommé Isaac “westmenloAA” Baron a survolé la compétition pour décrocher sa première victoire majeure et un chèque de $246 928.

Avec sept joueurs restants, Baron, Chorny et Theo Tran (faisant alors figure de spectateur), se sont retrouvés impliqué dans un pot crucial qui déterminerait vraisemblablement le vainqueur. Chorny ouvre au bouton, Tran fait tapis, tout comme Baron après lui. Tout le monde s’attendait à voir Chorny se coucher mais ce dernier a fait lever la foule en annonçant qu’il payait.

Le flop et le turn aident Baron à trouver quelques outs supplémentaires, mais sa paire de neuf est toujours derrière la paire de dix de Chorny. Baron alors immobile ne semble pas affecté par les événements qui l’avaient jusque-là fait transpiré. A six outs de l’élimination, Baron observe la river lui compléter son tirage quinte par le ventre et ainsi inverser le momentum.

A partir de cet instant Baron est devenu tout simplement inarrêtable, construisant une forteresse de jetons, à tel point qu’après avoir éliminé Alex Keating à la quatrième place, “Menlo” s’est retrouvé propriétaire des 4/5e des jetons alors présents sur la table.

Chorny a ensuite dû résister de son mieux en situation de shortstack, mais Baron a fini par l’éliminer en troisième position avant d’aborder son duel face à Michael Benvenuti avec un avantage de 5 contre 1. Grâce en prime à quelques cartes chanceuses en sa faveur, Baron clôtura le match rapidement.

Ladies Champ Sues WSOP Academy

The 2007 WSOP Ladies champion, Sally Ann Boyer, is to sue the World Series of Poker Academy on the grounds that they used her name and image without her permission in their ads.

Boyer picked up $262,077 alongside a WSOP bracelet and watch following her win in June 2007. She claims the ads state she won the event thanks to her training at the school although Boyer isn’t a graduate.

Her complaint in Clark County Court read; “Soon thereafter, the WSOP Academy began extensive marketing efforts, using Boyer’s recent win to widely market itself as an academy that breeds success in tournaments.”

Dan Livingston, joueur de poker semi-professionnel de 22 ans, a mis sa chance à rude épreuve en s’inscrivant à un freeroll qualificatif pour un événement du World Series Of Poker Circuit de Chicago. Livingston a dû lutter pour se frayer un chemin mais les “Dieux du Poker” avaient donné au jeune homme un énorme coup de pouce afin de s’emparer du titre et de la bague WSOPC face à un parterre relevé. Une performance récompensée de $291 749.

“40 heures de travail pour environ $300 000 ? Je prends !”, s’est exprimé Livingston. “J’ai toujours voulu remporter un bracelet, mais pour l’instant la bague en or me convient très bien.”

248 participants ont payé le buy-in de $5 200, une somme que Livingston n’a pas eu a déboursé. En fait il n’a même pas eu besoin de jouer l’un des freerolls satellites ! Il remporta son ticket grâce à un tirage au sort effectué dans la poker room du Horseshoe Casino à Hammond, dans l’Indiana.

“Cette victoire a boosté ma confiance. Cela va m’inciter à me consacrer davantage au poker. Je vais voir si je peux en vivre.”

La coïncidence a voulu que le dernier adversaire de Livingston ait lui aussi gagné son siège via un tirage au sort ! Il se peut que Tom Floros soit déçu de ne pas avoir décroché la bague en or, mais les $180 287 de gains sauront sans doute lui redonner le sourire.

Andrew Feldman to play Season Six of High Stakes Poker

Full Tilt Poker Pro, Andrew Feldman, has confirmed that he will be playing on season six of GSN’s poker cash game, High Stakes Poker. The show, which is considered to be the best televised poker show ever, will be filmed in November and aired on GSN in February next year. Gabe Kaplan will be joined by a mystery co-host rumoured to be Kara Scott. Previous co-host AJ Benza worked on the show for the first five seasons before being axed.

Feldman, the first UK player to ever appear on the show said, “Apparently I was recommended to the producer by none other than Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan. Maybe he thinks I’m good value, maybe he thinks I’ll give action…I hope it’s the latter. Last month I played the Full Tilt Million Dollar cash game, but this is going to be just as tough if not tougher!”

Phil Hellmuth, Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan and Dennis Phillips have also confirmed that they will be playing on High Stakes Poker.

During season five of High Stakes Poker, Tom Dwan and Barry Greenstein played out the biggest ever televised pot worth a staggering $919,000. No doubt Andrew Feldman is looking forward to getting involved in the action this season!
